Forced into "sissy camps"? Demand action from Malaysia's Prime Minister!

from allout.org

Source: AsiaOneSource: AsiaOneLast week, Malaysia rounded up 66 male students with “feminine qualities” and sent them off to get “fixed” at a government re-education camp. These kids were taken out of school to be brainwashed out of a fear that they “could end up gay or transsexual”.

Malaysians have been up in arms since news leaked about the camp - and even some government officials are speaking out. The Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, has said the "boot camps" violate Malaysian law, and a broad coalition of civil society groups are demanding that the government shut them down.

Instead of responding to the overwhelming demand to shut down the re-education camps, the government has ignored criticism.

Next week we have a major opportunity to let Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak know that the world is watching and he must shut down these camps immediately. On May 6th, he will be in the media spotlight as he heads to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit hoping to build international credibility - and he needs to hear from us.

Join the growing chorus of Malaysians and people around the world demanding that the Prime Minister shut down these anti-gay boot camps. When 10,000 people have signed the petition, activists will deliver our letters directly to the Prime Minister at the summit next weekend. Go to www.allout.org/malaysia to sign this urgent petition!

"Josh & Henry: Fighting to Stay Together"

After five years of love and commitment, Josh and his husband Henry from Venezuela are about to be ripped apart by the US government - and 36,000 other couples face the same fate.

If Josh and Henry were a straight couple, Josh could easily sponsor Henry's visa and keep their family together. But even though President Obama promised to stop defending the national law that refuses to recognize gay marriages, his administration continues to block Josh from sponsoring Henry's visa. On May 6, Henry faces a deportation that will separate them for 10 years.

As head of Obama's Department of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano can keep Josh and Henry - and thousands of other loving couples - from being torn apart by calling a moratorium on deportations until the courts can decide whether to recognize same-sex partnerships. It's within her power, but it will take a huge public outcry to force her to take a stand.

Sign this urgent petition: Ask Janet Napolitano to do the right thing and stop the deportations before its too late by going to www.allout.org/tornapart
